Understanding the Sympathetic & Parasympathetic Nervous Systems

That sense of overwhelm often stems from our sympathetic nervous system, which propels us into action. When it detects a threat – real or perceived – our fight/flight/freeze response takes over. But when no real danger exists, our parasympathetic nervous system is there to restore us to a state of calm.
